CRIMINAL

FILING A COMPLAINT: If you feel you have a complaint which is criminal in nature you must call your local police agency and file a report. DO NOT CALL THE PROSECUTOR. THIS OFFICE DOES NOT PROSECUTE ANY CASE WITHOUT A POLICE REPORT.

Once you have made your complaint to your local police agency the officer will determine if there is enough evidence to pursue charges. Depending on the type of charge, a summons will be given or an arrest will be made. If there is a question of enough evidence to pursue charges the police will forward the report to this office and the prosecutor will make that determination. Once a report is forwarded to the Prosecutor for review, it may take up to two weeks for the Prosecutor to review and return to the originating Police Agency for charges.
