12:00PM
AFFECTED AREAS:
Oak Street
South Prospect Street between Oak Street & Forest Street
South Cedar between Oak Street to Morgan Street
Reamer Place
Customers in this area are currently under a Water Boil Advisory. See below for more details.
The water main servicing your home or business was shut down at approximately 11:30AM on Friday, April 3 for scheduled maintenance. This caused a loss of pressure in your area, and the water will need to be checked for total coliform bacteria. You are under a Boil Water Advisory for approximately 24 hours.
During a Drinking Water Boil Advisory, customers are asked to boil tap water when it will be used for drinking, cooking, making ice, dishwashing, or dental hygiene. Boil the water vigorously for 3 minutes, and then allow the water to cool before using.
This water outage may also cause additional disruptions in water quality including discolored water and/or potentially a temporary increase in lead levels in the drinking water. Please note that this advisory is only in place for customers that have received this notice.
As a standard practice the USEPA recommends the following actions to reduce possible lead exposure in drinking water:
- If water has not been used for several hours, run the tap until there is a noticeable temperature drop. Then, run water for 30 seconds to 3 minutes before using it for drinking and cooking. This helps flush water that may have contained lead that may have leached from plumbing.
- Use cold water for cooking, drinking, and preparing baby formula. Boiling the water will not reduce lead.
- Clean faucet aerators regularly.
For additional information, contact the EPA Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791 or visit Drinktap.org and www.epa.gov/safewater/lead.
The Boil Advisory will remain in place until approximately 3:00PM Saturday April 4 and an end of boil advisory will be issued via Code Red and posted on the city website. Thank you for your cooperation in following these guidelines established by the Environmental Protection Agency to safeguard your health. Please contact us at 440-775-7291 with any questions.
